Leupold 8x32 Katmai Binoculars, part number LESO014, is a discontinued product from the 2007–2011 catalog. It was last listed at $348.98, down from a high of $369.99.
These Leupold 8x 32mm Katmai™ Binoculars in black finish give you all the performance of a full-size binocular in a compact package that's lightweight and easy to carry or pack. They are ideal for people who value relatively compact size with exceptional optical performance. The key is the 32mm objective lens and L-coated™ prisms that work together to transmit a greater amount of light to your eye than traditional compacts which usually employ a much smaller objective lens.
This is a wide-angle binocular perfect for sporting events where you prefer to see the whole scene magnified instead of one particular element. With its exit pupil diameter in excess of 5mm you can expect bright images in all but the darkest of conditions.
Leupold 8x 32mm Katmai Binoculars are premium midsized roof-prism units with unusual capabilities. Advanced prism technology yields great brightness. Twist-up eyecups offer generous eye relief and comfort even with glasses. The binoculars also provide waterproof and fog-proof performance and the center focus dial is easily manipulated - even while wearing gloves. Limited lifetime warranty.
From humble immigrant beginnings Leupold grew based on a promise of quality to become a classic American company. In 1907 Fred Leupold set up a one-man shop at 5th and Oak streets in Portland Ore. to repair surveying equipment. He was joined by his brother-in-law Adam Voelpel and later by inventor John Cyprian Stevens and the foundations for a century of success were in place.
During Leupold's second half-century the company has focused heavily on the sports optics business. Leupold's presence in the hunting and shooting market expands and finally dominates with innovative optics and features that are now legendary among hunters shooters and outdoors enthusiasts. Many of the industry's standards - nitrogen waterproofing the Duplex reticle and more - are Leupold creations.
