These classic Russian styled chess pieces have several distinctive features. The pieces are crafted of premium Rosewood and Boxwood and the Rosewood pieces are particularly striking. They have a unique heavy wood grain that displays bands of light and dark shades of reddish-brown. The Russian styling is most evident on the knights whose delicately curved necks and downward turned heads take on a regal appearance. Most interesting about this chess set are the bishops - the light bishop sports a dark rosewood cap and the dark bishop features a light Maple cap. This set also features a 3.75 inch king height and the pieces are double weighted with felted bottoms.
