The Columbus Marco Polo 14-Inch Diameter Tabletop Globe makes it possible to visualize a multitude of astronomical concepts including elliptic orbit around the sun earth rotation on its axis duration of the day and other solstitial points. The illuminated portion of the globe illustrates the concept of day and the three zones of twilight. A luminous point indicates the sub-solar zone i.e. the place where the sun does not create any shade at midday. All these concepts can be observed for a given day-hour-place by an adjustment of the dial at the foot of the globe.

Constructed of an acrylic globe ball with a stainless steel base this globe features a fiberglass meridian as well as a standard blue ocean colorful continents complete with political borders and a silver finish on the base.
