The dark chessmen are made from solid ebony wood - a rare dense strong and heavy hardwood that is difficult to carve therefore only entrusted to the hands of master carvers. Ebony wood varies in color from red to black with a rich variety of dark shades. The light chessmen are made from boxwood a fine-grained hardwood with an ivory appearance and a natural luster. The king stands six inches tall with a base diameter of two inches. Board dimensions: 20L x 20W x 6H inches.
