The HE-111 was the Luftwaffe's (German Air Force) first modern medium bomber. In the skies over Britain the HE-111 proved to be under-armed and lacking performance in both altitude and speed. The Heinkel took part in what became known as the Blitz when many parts of London were destroyed. This aircraft flew with the German Air Force until the end of the war.
