Jenny JN-7H Float Model Airplane
Shown here is a model of floating version of the most reliable aircraft of the early 20th century the Curtiss Jenny. Beginning in the later years of World War I Curtiss Jenny airplanes were made primarily as training aircraft or relegated to reconnaissance missions. Featuring engines of about 90 horsepower they were slow aircraft and not really suited for combat but did see some limited action. In the late 20s many of these planes were sold quite inexpensively on the civilian market many with their engine power doubled. This hand-made model is a stunning representation featuring an assembled wood frame and a silk canvas fabric stretched over it. They were often used to transport mail but they became well-known by their appearance in early air shows and barnstorming. Pilots would travel from town to town performing aerial stunts such as wing-walking and other daring acrobatic maneuvers. Since it was a two-seater some would charge up to five dollars for rides. This model captures much of the realism found in the prototype including turning wheels engine and cockpit details pontoon accurate markings on the wings and tail and the wood propeller. Its wood frame is covered with a satin canvas and painted with accurate details. You can own this incredible recreation of the famous barnstormer and enjoy its details any time you want.
