Do this while the machine is turned off. Replace the tank cover and carafe. Add coffee grounds to the metal funnel with steel mesh. Tamper the grounds. Replace the funnel. Plug your machine into the outlet. Turn steam knob until indicator lights up and wait two minutes. Now there will be coffee flowing out; turn the knob to the pause position once you have enough espresso. Remove carafe and turn off steam knob.Frothing MilkPerfect your morning cappuccino with frothed milk. Prepare your espresso first. Set aside enough milk for each cup of cappuccino. Whole milk is the best for frothing and it should be at refrigerator temperature. Turn the steam knob so that the indicator light turns on. Insert frothing wand into your milk container dipping the tip of the wand about two centimeters beneath the surface. Wait two minutes and steam will begin to come out of the wand. Frothing will begin to happen; move the wand in a gentle circular motion across the carafe of milk to create even froth and prevent hot spots in one area of the milk. You should turn off the steam knob once you have enough frothed milk. For sanitary purposes you should clean the wand with a damp rag after use but make sure not to burn yourself. To finish off pour the frothed milk into your espresso and enjoy.Cleaning and MaintenanceTurn off the power to your machine and let it cool down completely before you begin cleaning. The housing of your maker needs to be cleaned with a sponge on a regular basis. Do not use alcohol-based cleaners and never immerse entire unit in water. To clean the metal funnel you will need to turn it clockwise dispose of the grounds inside and rinse with water. All attachments and accessories can be cleaned with water.Cleaning Mineral DepositsFor a functioning and efficient machine it is important that you check to make sure your Kalorik 4 Cup Black Espresso Maker is free of mineral deposits every 2-3 months. Use one part household descaler and four parts water to do the cleaning. If descaler is unavailable you may use three parts citric acid (available at drug stores) and one part water for this process. You will need to put the desired mixture into the tank. Put all parts of your machine in place. Hit the button to begin brewing the water. Turn the steam knob to make two cups of coffee and then turn it off for five seconds. After waiting make steam for two minutes and then release and turn off. Allow the descalers to sit for at least 15 minutes. Repeat the final steps three times for best results. Brew until no descaler is left.
