How do I turn it on?
All sights have the switch located in the frame where the slide lock/release lever is.
Why do I want it there?
It can be activated with your finger outside of the trigger guard. If you have received firearms safety training you'll know that this is where your trigger finger goes while aiming. Other locations or activation methods can invite accidental discharges of the firearm or magazine drops.
What if I am left-handed?
