The work surface is a four inch-thick butcher block made of American Cherry wood. This attractive wood is given a Varnique finish so it will look great for years. A checkerboard pattern is a prominent feature of the work surface. It is created by gluing the wood pieces as they stand on end. No rods or staples are used in the construction of the block. Four legs have distinctive shaping at their top before they taper down to the decorative knob near the feet. A slatted shelf below is made of Cherry and gives you open storage.

This island is available in your choice of sizes. The smallest size has one dovetailed maple drawer in front; the larger island has two drawers (as shown).
