Enjoy an update on a classic with the Monti Rugs Basketweave Collection. These rugs take the idea of a traditional basket-weave design and bring it straight into this century with colorful contemporary colors. Each rug is constructed of 100% wool and meticulously hand-tufted by artisans in India. In hand-tufting a tufting gun is used to insert each piece of yarn individually in correspondence with the rug's color pattern. The tufts are then trimmed and sheared at which point hand-carving takes place. Hand-carving is the process of shearing parts of the rug to add texture and depth and is usually done following the lines of the design for an extra element of interest.
