Nautical Storm Glass Weather Instrument, part number AML013, is a discontinued product from the 2007–2011 catalog. It was last listed at $49.99.
This instrument was believed to help seamen predict changes in the weather on sailing ships. Though indoors this piece is predominantly decorative it is a beautiful piece that has historical significance. A dark oak colored frame surrounds the hermetically sealed glass tube that is filled with a mixture of camphor alcohol and water. Its face is adorned with colorful nautical flags with a compass illustration at the top. A set of rules for reading this instrument was developed by the famed Admiral Fitzroy and is showcased below the storm glass.
