Pawleys Island was the first hammock manufacturing company in the United States. As it was in 1889 this hammock continues to be hand-woven in the same tradition. Every United States President since Truman has received a Pawleys Island Hammock as a gift from South Carolina Senator Strom Thurmond.

Originally designed using a continuous latched weave with steam bent wooden spreader bars this style and design is still in use today representing a tradition and lifestyle typical of southern plantation days over a century ago. The rope is hand-woven with an intricate macramé clew-end. The steel hardware is coated with weather resistant zinc plating. Each hammock includes everything you need for a tree or post installation including (2) tree hooks and chain/hook assemblies.
