The Schwab Series 5000-Fire Resistant Lateral 3 Drawer Filing Cabinet helps guarantee the safety and protection of all your vital documents. The lateral file cabinets come in a variety of basic colors and feature variable-width hanging frames. But much more importantly they are constructed using the latest techniques in fire insulation - assuring protection from fires up to 1700 degrees. Each drawer is independently insulated from fire protecting closed drawers if a drawer is left open.

The underwriter's laboratories (U. L.) test the product by heating it up to 1700 degrees (most fires reach 800 degrees) over the course of an hour then cooling it over several days. The interior temperature must remain at or below 125 degrees. This product meets or exceeds all tests for heat resistance.
