Laplanders known as Saami today are reindeer herders who inhabit northern Scandinavia and western Russia north of the Arctic Circle. The hand-painted Steinbach Laplander Limited Edition Nutcracker is signed by Karla Steinbach and dressed for the cold. He is dressed in the traditional blue cloth embellished with multi-colored braids. He wears boots and pulls a sled carrying his gear.
