About Smith OpticsIn 1965 Smith Optics was founded by Dr. Bob Smith an orthodontist. Living in Sun Valley Idaho Dr. Smith developed a revolutionary pair of ski goggles by hand using dental tools foam and glue. Initially trading his creations for lift tickets their popularity caught on and he struck a deal to manufacture his goggles first created at his dining room table.
