Catalog description

Chroma USA #800 Whetstone Knife Sharpener, part number CHU054, is a discontinued product from the 2007–2011 catalog. It was last listed at $49.99.

Recommended for use with Chroma's celebrated Haiku line of knives the Chroma USA #800 Whetstone Knife Sharpener will extend the lives and effectiveness of your knives. It comes complete with instructions. Sharpening stones are used to grind and hone the edges of steel tools and implements like scissors. Historically there are three grades of Japanese sharpening stones: the ara-to (rough stone) naka-to (middle stone) and the shiage-to (finishing stone). The Haiku collection is Chroma's traditional line of knives inspired by the Japanese art of the sword smith and haiku poetry the meter and content of which are supposed to be sharpened to a fine edge. A bamboo peg or mekugi is inserted into every Haiku knife where the tang and handle meet providing added strength and stability.

Chroma USA Inc. is responsible for some of the finest knives you'll find in a modern kitchen. Ideal for use in professional settings as well as at home these knives have been crafted using the finest and strongest premium-quality steel from Japan. These extremely sharp knives hold their edge for a long time and should be stored in a knife block. You can help maintain a sharp edge to ensure safety by sharpening your knives periodically. For best results use ceramic sharpening stones rather than metal steel which will damage fine edges. Wash your Chroma knives in warm water and dry by hand after every use.
