The MOVA globe is powered only by natural light and the force of the earth's magnetic field. It contains an inner globe that rotates within the fixed acrylic outer shell. The space between them is filled with a clear non-toxic fluid that provides buoyancy and prevents contact between the two globes. The inner globe floating and turning in a virtually frictionless environment is akin to the earth itself. A highly efficient drive mechanism within the inner globe ensures rotation in virtually any ambient light. Solar cells harness that energy and a magnetic element reacts to the earth's magnetic field in the manner of a common compass to provide torque.
