One of the most iconic light aircraft from the World War II period the Piper Cub was an extremely simple and cost-effective plane that was produced in massive numbers. Developed just before World War II it was quickly adopted into military service in its primary role that of flight training. A series of earlier Cub models had been produced by Piper since 1930 but it wasn't until the J-3 model that the Cub became truly popular.
