The Waco CG-4A became the most widely used glider in World War II. More than 12000 of them were produced. Built with a fuselage of steel tubing and wings of plywood it could be towed at a maximum speed of 150 mph carrying around 7000 pounds in cargo and men. Made of mixed wood and metal construction mostly fabric covered the CG-4A was of conventional troop-glider design.
