The X-33 was a prototype for NASA's next generation of space launch vehicles. This craft was designed as an unmanned pod and used to test a range of technologies needed for a single stage spacecraft. Working with Lockheed the project proved to be too expensive due to technical difficulties and various set backs and was cancelled by NASA in 2001.
