The Cucina Grande Work Island will reinvent the way you use your kitchen. Crafted of 2.25-inch thick maple butcher block the work surface can take a beating and is excellent for food preparation. Type 304 food-grade stainless steel forms the frame and lower storage shelf and offers industrial strength with modern elegance. There are end side towel bars for hanging storage and a dovetail Maple drawer with a stainless steel front.

The Cucina is available in a variety of sizes to meet your needs including: 48W x 28D x 35H inches 48W x 36D x 35H inches 60W x 28D x 35H inches or 60W x 36D x 35H inches. An optional 8-inch drop leaf increases your workspace depth. Simply fold it down when you don't need it. Versatile functional and beautiful; that's what the Cucina Grand Work Island is all about.

About the materials:The top of this island is made for chopping and cutting. Recent studies indicate that wood is safer for food preparation than plastic or glass cutting boards; bacteria like salmonella disappear quickly on wood but tend to live and thrive on plastic. You should always clean your wooden cutting board surface with hot soapy water taking care to remove any food particles and dry the board immediately.

To maintain the beautiful finish of your butcher block top always wipe clean with a damp sponge or cloth and use a mild detergent. You should never soak the wood or let water stand for long periods of time as it disrupts the moisture content and causes the rails to split. Rinse well and towel-dry before applying new oil. We recommend John Boos Mystery Oil although drug store mineral oil can also be effective in sealing wood. Oil will enhance the color of the wood and offer short-term protection. It is extremely important to give the wood a good oiling on all surfaces every three to four weeks imbuing your cart or island with a rich golden glow. When it becomes dry and lighter in color it is time to re-oil.

Stainless steel is durable and long-lasting when cared for and maintained properly. Make sure to keep this island clean. Do not allow liquids food particles dirt or other matter to stay in contact with the surface for prolonged periods of time. Keeping the shelf and legs clean will also assist in discouraging bacterial growth. Do not use an abrasive cleaner or chlorine bleach to clean stainless surfaces. We recommend using Dow Fantastic or Glass Plus.
