The Stormglass makes an ideal gift for your favorite sailor or boating enthusiast. A beautifully crafted brass or chrome-plated cylinder houses a sealed glass chamber with crystals. This mysterious predictor of weather conditions has been used around the world since 1750. Renowned sailor and meteorologist brought his stormglass aboard the HMS Beagle during his historic voyage with Charles Darwin. While still not entirely understood the stormglass is believed to respond to electromagnetic changes caused by sun storms and terrestrial weather. This exquisite piece can be displayed freestanding or mounted to a boat bulkhead or wall using the optional hook and mounting bracket available separately.
