Catalog description
X-5 Model Airplane, part number TAM354, is a discontinued product from the 2007–2011 catalog. It was last listed at $109.99.
The X-5 was the first aircraft capable of adjusting the sweep of its wings during flight. This was to be of great important to future fighter designs such as the F-14 Tomcat. There were three positions for the wing sweep and full positioning took a mere 30 seconds to complete. Though this proved to be unstable at the time resulting in loss of one aircraft and test pilot the X-5 program was deemed a success.
This experimental aircraft is crafted in select mahogany and given a smooth finish. Entirely hand painted this replica comes complete with a removable stand.
