This experimental jet aircraft had the lofty goal of ground takeoff mach 2 flight and landing all on its own power. Though the craft had a streamlined fuselage and was the sleekest of any of the experimental jets the goals did not get met. Not even reaching mach 1 in level flight this craft was seriously underpowered. It was however the first to use titanium in its major structural components.
